LJUBLJANA, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- The Slovenian government announced on Wednesday that it had fulfilled 43 percent of EU-sponsored migrant-relocation scheme, above the EU average.

From March 2016 when it launched the EU-sponsored relocation scheme until Jan. 24, Slovenia accepted 244 people, 72 from Italy and 172 from Greece, according to the release after the government's session on Wednesday.

This is 43 percent of all the migrants that Slovenia will accept as part of the relocation scheme, which places the country above the EU average, the Slovenian Press Agency (STA) reported.

The session on Wednesday discussed a third interim report on the relocation of 567 migrants, which consists 218 from Italy and 349 from Greece, and on the resettlement of migrants from non-EU countries.

Slovenian authorities processed 222 requests for international protection, recognising 205 migrants as refugees, granting subsidiary protection to ten and rejecting the request to five.

The Slovenian Interior Ministry has already received information about 67 persons willing to permanently move to Slovenia. 60 are expected to be resettled here this year.
