BUCHAREST, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- A photo exhibition entitled "The New Silk Road" opened here on Friday in the Exhibition Centre of the Parliament's Palace, giving visitors a better perception of the charm of the Belt and Road.

Under the motto "Bridging Distances, Sharing Dreams along the Legendary Road-natural and Cultural Heritage," the photos on show take visitors onto a journey along the Belt and Road.

Heritages, culture, investments and cultural and economic activities along the Belt and Road are being told by the pictures, which wowed its visitors.

Marian, a 14-year-old visitor, says after viewing the photos that "China does everything grandiose!"

Corina, a lady aged 80, says she never thought China would achieve this level of performance: "I belong to the generation that taught the Chinese to be experts...We were receiving Chinese students 50 years ago to teach them here...Now, it is China that teaches the world, for sure. No other country has this global scale of advanced projects."

Mircea Dumitru, Rector of the University of Bucharest which organized the exhibition together with the Confucius Institute in Bucharest, said today's world is looking with interest at China. "Everywhere people are discussing about the Chinese philosophies and about the Chinese cultural archetypes...The Chinese culture has the vocation of dialogue by excellence."

Zhao Li, the cultural attache of the Chinese Embassy in Bucharest also highlighted the role of culture in bringing closer of peoples.

"Culture has no borders, culture belongs not to one nation, but to mankind. Cultural exchanges enhance knowledge and understanding among people, expand the horizons, enrich spiritual life and open larger views in our own lives," said Zhao.

"This exhibition is a proof that cultural bonds have ever existed in the history of mankind and they can never stop. Crossing regions and civilizations, learning from each other, being open and inclusive are the keys to create a better future for mankind," added the Chinese diplomat.

Under the exhibition motto "Bridging Distances, Sharing Dreams," the main photo of the exhibition shows a four-lane highway splitting into four directions in mountains and valleys.

Just like what the photo implies, a dream starting from one point can be shared by all.
