NAIROBI, March 8 (Xinhua) -- Kenya Sevens rugby head coach Innocent Simiyu on Thursday warned his players against underrating their opponents in the group stages of the Canada Sevens in Vancouver.

Kenya has been pooled alongside with Spain, France and Fiji in what analysts believe is a weak group for Fiji and Kenya to sail through, but Simiyu is concerned it might play a trick to his players mind not to give in their best.

Kenya Sevens team will be eyeing their third straight qualification to the Main Cup quarters as they push for their target to reach the 100 point margin by the end of the circuit.

That cruise will, however, be put under severe test in Vancouver's Canada Sevens, which will be held this weekend (March 10-11).

"We have a tough pool though we're playing France and Fiji again as well as Spain for the first time this season. It will be interesting to see how the boys play this weekend," said Simiyu.

"The key focus has been on our preparations so that we ensure we start well and finish well, hit our performance targets early and consistently," he added.

The coach has his full squad available for selection and hopes for consistency as they go for the maximum points.

"So far the players have responded well, thanks to the conditioning and tactics coaches, who have managed to get them to 100 per cent recovery after Las Vegas (USA) tournament. The players are now eager and ready to go," he said.
