TAIPEI, March 18 (Xinhua) -- Taiwan writer Li Ao died at the age of 83 shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday, according to the Taipei Veterans General Hospital.

Li, who suffered from brain tumor, died peacefully in the hospital, according to a statement.
