Irina Khromacheva wins women's singles at tennis Kunming Open

KUNMING, May 5 (Xinhua) -- Irina Khromacheva of Russia won the Kunming Open women's singles title after beating Chinese player Zheng Saisai 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (5) on Saturday.

Ranking 133rd in WTA table, 24-year-old Zheng took the first set 6-3, but Irina used her aggressive baseline style and energy to reverse in second set with 6-4. Then, the 22-year-old girl rattled off a series of powerful groundstrokes to force a tie-break in the third set.

With a forehand down the line, Irina won the tie-break 7-5 and wraped up the match in two hours and 40 minutes.

"This was an amazing game, I wish Zheng all the best to the rest of the season," Irina said with big smile.

"Irina played better," Zheng said, "I am exhausted and tried my best, I almost got it (title), next time, I will do much better than this time."

Irina gets 160 points and 20,000 US dollars with Kunming's champion, Zheng also takes 95 points and 11,000 US dollars home.

Kunming Open is part of the ATP Challenger Tour and WTA 125K series and is played on clay courts, formerly known as the China International Challenger since 2012.?
