KIEV, May 14 (Xinhua) -- The Ukrainian capital will host the 56th annual meeting of the World Boxing Council (WBC) this fall, Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced on Monday.

"Many legends of world boxing, promoters and sports managers will come to the event. This will be a major impetus for the promotion and the development of our boxing and sports in general," Klitschko wrote on Facebook after his meeting with Mauricio Sulaiman, the President of the WBC.

Meanwhile, the Kiev City State Administration said on its website that more than 700 high-ranked guests will attend the meeting of the WBC, which will be held from Sept. 30 to Oct. 6, 2018.

According to local media, boxing icons Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis will participate in the event.

The 55th meeting of the WBC was held in Baku, Azerbaijan, in October 2017.?
