NAIROBI, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Kenya junior women's and men's volleyball teams will meet Egypt, Rwanda and host Uganda in the Zone Five Africa championships, which will be held in Kampala from May 24-26.

Sudan and South Sudan have since pulled out of the three-day championships, in which the winner will secure the ticket to the Africa Youth Games to be held in Algiers, Algeria in July 17-27.

Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) Press Officer Tarek Al-Adwar confirmed on Tuesday that only four teams will be competing in the Zonal competition.

The Kenyan women's team won silver during the 2014 Games in Botswana with Egypt getting gold while Nigeria clinched bronze.

However, Kenya and Egypt will have to play each other in Kampala in the men's tournament to determine who qualifies for the Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires, Argentina in October.

"More than 140 volleyball players from four nations will compete for qualification for the Zone Five Africa Youth Games, Algeria 2018," said Al-Adwar.

"The winners of the regional qualifier will earn a ticket to represent Zone Five at the third African Youth Games in Algeria."

Egypt, Kenya, Rwanda and hosts Uganda, will field both boys and girls in the championship to be played in Kampala. Enditem
