BEIJING, May 23 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese Football Association (CFA) Wednesday announced that the former China men's under-19 football team head coach Jia Xiuquan, will replace Sigurdur Ragnar Eyjolfsson as the coach of the China women's national football team.

This is the second time that the women's team has changed their head coach in the past six months. French coach Bruno Bini was replaced by Eyjolfsson last November.

According to the CFA, the new coach will start preparing the side for the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France and the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Jia Xiuquan is one of most travelled Chinese football coaches. He has coached a number of teams and he has been nominated as the "Coach of the Year" in the Chinese Super League in 2015 and 2016. He has spent most of his career focusing on men's football.

In the announcement, the CFA spoke highly of Sigurdur Eyjolfsson's work over the past six months. The Icelander helped the team qualify for the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup.?
