LONDON, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Novak Djokovic of Serbia beat South Africa's Kevin Anderson in straight sets to win his fourth Wimbledon men's singles title here on Sunday.

The former world number one finally saw his two-year Grand Slam drought end by winning 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 (3). It is his 13th major title in total and first in two years after taking the French Open champion in 2016.

Anderson's dream of becoming the oldest first-time Wimbledon champion at 32 since the game turned professional 50 years ago was dashed since he was apparently drained after the 6-hour marathon semifinal victory over American John Isner.

Having slumped to the world No. 21 spot, Djokovic, the 12th seed, has become the lowest-ranked man to win Wimbledon since Goran Ivanisevic did it as the world No. 125 in 2001.

For two sets Djokovic's serve delivered time after time, and Anderson could scarcely touch it. Although Anderson managed to play some nice tennis, Djokovic held his nerve and seal the victory in front of his five-year old son Stefan and his wife Jelena in Centre Court.

"I would like to congratulate Kevin," he said. "I was quite lucky to get through. I'm very grateful to everyone who has been supporting me.

"The last couple of years haven't been easy, facing for the first time a severe injury. I had many moments of doubt and didn't know if I could come back. But there's no better place in the world to make a comeback. I always dreamed of holding this trophy as a boy. This is a sacred place for tennis. It's very special."
