BEIJING, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- China's top observatory on Saturday evening renewed a blue alert for typhoon Yagi, which will bring gales and rainstorms to parts of southeast China starting Saturday evening.

Yagi, the 14th typhoon this year, is moving toward China's east coast and will make landfall at the coast of Zhejiang Province on Sunday night, the National Meteorological Center (NMC) said.

At 5 p.m., the center of Yagi was monitored over the Pacific ocean, about 760 km southeast of Taizhou, Zhejiang Province.

It will move at a pace of around 20 to 25 km per hour towards the northwest with gradually increasing force, the center said.

Yagi will continue to move northwest after the landing, but its force will dwindle, the NMC said.

From Saturday evening to Sunday evening, the typhoon is forecast to bring gales to Jiangsu, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Guangdong and Hainan, and heavy rain to Guangxi, Guangdong, Hainan, Zhejiang, and Shanghai.

The center suggested local governments take precautions against possible disasters, ships in affected areas return to port, and residents along the typhoon's path stay indoors until it passes.

China has a four-tier color-coded weather warning system, with red representing the most severe, followed by orange, yellow and blue.
