BERLIN, Aug. 19 (Xinhua) -- Borussia Monchengladbach progressed into the next round after easing 11-1 past lower league side Hastedt at the first round of the German Cup on Sunday.

The "Foals" showed no mercy with fifth division club BSC Hastedt and reaped a two-digit victory, which is the highest win in the club's history.

Monchengladbach ensured a perfect start into the encounter as Thorgan Hazard converted a foul play penalty to open the scoring with two minutes played.

New arrival Alassane Plea doubled the lead only six minutes later after poking home from inside the box.

Hastedt were unable to put up some resistance and Monchengladbach's Raffael provided two goals to make it 4-0 with 31 minutes into the clash.

The visitors kept it bowling as Florian Neuhaus' long range effort extended the lead before Thorgan Hazard sewed up his brace with a free kick goal into the top left corner in the 42nd minute.

After the restart, Dieter Hecking's men started where they left off as Plea overcame Hastedt goalkeeper Marcel Pfarr following a one-on-one with five minutes into the second half.

Jonas Hofmann added another goal to the visitors lead from the edge of the box before Raffel wrapped up his hat rick with a long-range hammer into the roof of the net in the 66th minute.

Plea and Hazard were not done with the scoring and sealed their hat ricks to mark the 11-0 advantage. The underdogs showed a vital sign in the closing period as Diyar Kuecuek scored Hastedt's consolation left footed out of the blue.

"We saw a great football match today. Monchengladbach secured a deserved win. Even though we lost it was fun to watch. Our consolation goal feels like a victory," Hastedt coach Goekhan Deli said.

"We staged over 90 minutes a focussed performance. I am satisfied although we squandered a few opportunities but that is complaining on a high level," Borussia Monchengladbach coach Dieter Hecking said.
