SEOUL, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- South Korean President Moon Jae-in's approval rating rose last week ahead of the planned second summit between the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) and the United States, which was forecast to intensify a peace mood on the Korean Peninsula, a weekly survey showed on Monday.

According to the Realmeter poll, support for Moon gained 1.2 percentage points over the week to 51 percent last week.

It was based on a poll of 2,514 voters conducted from Monday to Friday. It had plus and minus 2 percentage points in margin of error with a 95 percent confidence level.

Moon's support scores rebounded above 50 percent in two weeks on positive expectations for the second DPRK-U.S. summit, scheduled for Wednesday to Thursday in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Moon's meetings with businessmen and the owners of mom-and-pop stores also positively influenced his approval rating, but data showing the widened income disparity between the high-and-low-income brackets had a negative impact on his support scores.

Negative assessment on Moon's management of state affairs inched up 0.1 percentage point over the week to 44.1 percent last week.

Support for Moon's ruling Democratic Party edged up 0.1 percentage point to 40.4 percent, followed by the main conservative opposition Liberty Korea Party, which won 26.8 percent of support last week, up 1.6 percentage points from the previous week.

The minor progressive Justice Party gained 7.1 percent of support, while the minor conservative Bareun Future Party and the center-left Party for Democracy and Peace garnered 6.6 percent and 3.2 percent each.
