SYDNEY, March 13 (Xinhua) -- A koala at the Australian Reptile Park has taken on a second joey in a very rare case of adoption.

While mother Molly already has a baby of her own, a second joey at the animal conservation sanctuary 70 km north of Sydney, was also in dire need of help.

"Koalas don't have twins or triplets," Australian Reptile Park General Manager Tim Faulkner said on Wednesday.

"If they did it would be very rare, but just as rare is a single koala caring for up to two babies at one time!"

"(When) the other koala joey's mother's milk had dried up, with no other option, the other joey was left to find some! Thankfully Molly was welcoming and happy to take on a second child!"

Dubbed the koala twins, the Reptile Park is now reaching out to the public to come up with name for the two joeys.

Some of the popular picks include Megan and Kate after the British Royals, Snugglepot and Cuddlepie and Polly and Jolly.

Although the twins are already in the process of being weaned off their mother's milk in favor of Eucalyptus leaves, Faulkner said Molly is such a nurturing mother that they're both still very much seen cuddling and bonding almost always.
