VILNIUS, May 12 (Xinhua) -- Lithuania's former finance minister Ingrida Simonyte and Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis, two out of three presidential frontrunners in the election, casted their ballots on Sunday, both hinting their expectations to make into the second elections' round.

Simonyte admitted while speaking to reporters she felt "emotional".

"I have been through a lot of things and I understand that this is just one milestone. There will be new challenges ahead," Simonyte said after casting her ballot in the capital Vilnius.

She did not forecast the outcome of Sunday's voting. As recent polls showed, economist Gitanas Nauseda, Simonyte and PM Skvernelis emerged as the leaders of the presidential race with marginal difference of voters' support.

Skvernelis said he expected to face his rival in the second round of the elections.

"I hope to have a tough fight at the second round, and I'm determined to do that," Skvernelis told local media after casting his vote on Sunday.

Nauseda and 3 other presidential candidates have casted their votes earlier this week during advance voting. Nauseda said he had voted for a candidate who could ensure that Lithuania "chooses the right path".

More than 30 percent of voters casted their votes by early afternoon on Sunday, according to Lithuania's Central Electoral Commission (VRK). Including the advance voting, the total voter turnout has reached almost 41 percent.

Lithuania also holds two binding referendums on Sunday.

The number of registered voters in the country's Presidential elections and two referendums is 2.47 million.
