NAIROBI, May 27 (Xinhua) -- Italian coach Shailene Ramdoo will lead Kenya men's team to compete in the Zone Five Africa Games volleyball tournament, which will be staged in Nairobi from June 2-8.

The competition is open to 12 countries and is the largest in the zonal division within the continent. Kenya men's team has not been at the Africa Games since 2011 and Ramdoo has come in to help the technical bench steer the ship to dock.

Kenya will be up against Uganda, Rwanda, Egypt, Tanzania, Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia, Burundi, South Sudan, Djibouti and Eritrea.

South Sudan, Eritrea and Djibouti have not been competing in the competition owing to poor performances.

Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) technical director David Lung'aho believes the addition of Ramdoo will help them gain scientifically.

"Ramdoo has changed the way we approach the game. He is good in statistics and reading the opponent game plan, which is critical," said Lung'aho on Monday in Nairobi.

"Volleyball is evolving and the modern game is more scientific and that is what we were lacking," he added.
