SHANGHAI, June 28 (Xinhua) -- The Association of Small & Medium Enterprises (ASME), a Singaporean nonprofit organization, has recently given awards to 13 Chinese brands in Shanghai for their industrial and market influences.

Ten Chinese brands including Huawei, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, and China Telecom were awarded Top 10 Leading Brands as benchmarks in their respective industries.

Mandarin Travel, Changyu Noble Dragon and 360 Security Technology were awarded Prestige Brands for their popularity in China and Asia, according to the Singapore Prestige Brand Award (SPBA) by ASME.

Kurt Wee, president of ASME, said Friday that Chinese enterprises including Huawei have done well in brand management and one day might earn international prestige as leading Chinese brands.

"It is very important for businesses to provide unique brand experience and be able to establish a meaningful connection with customers. In the global economy, powerful brands can transcend geographical boundaries and win the hearts of consumers at home and abroad," he said.

ASME, established in 1986, aims to promote the business environment of small and medium local enterprises. In 2002, it inaugurated the SPBA to honor Singaporean brands that have been developed and managed effectively through various branding initiatives.

ASME introduced the award to the Chinese market for the first time this year. It mainly awards Chinese brands in hopes of consolidating business relations between Chinese and Singaporean brands and creating more opportunities for cooperation.

BreadTalk, a brand born in Singapore, was awarded for its popularity among Chinese consumers and contribution to the baking industry both in China and Singapore.
