BEIJING, July 21 (Xinhua) -- An annual reading campaign for children and teenagers was launched Sunday in Beijing.

Hosted by the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), the campaign was designed to cultivate patriotic spirit among children and teenagers.

New activities besides reading, such as lectures, visits, presentations and essay soliciting, were also introduced in recent years' campaigns, according to the ACWF.

More than 800 million young readers participated in the previous 26 campaigns.
