SHANGHAI, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- E-commerce giant eBay on Wednesday signed a memorandum with the commission of commerce of Huangpu District in Shanghai, seeking a strategic partnership to promote cross-border e-commerce with a full industry chain.

According to the memorandum, the two parties are expected to make joint efforts to build a financial service platform, a logistics center and a product exhibition center to boost cross-border e-commerce.

eBay, which has built its greater China headquarters in Huangpu, and the district commission of commerce will also establish a talent training base and centers for innovation, entrepreneurship and R&D, and help more cross-border e-commerce enterprises to set up their headquarters in Huangpu.

The partnership will drive cross-border e-commerce export and further unleash industry potential, helping Shanghai play a bigger role in global cross-border trade, said Zheng Changqing, general manager of eBay's cross-border commerce division in China.

Shen Weihua, deputy head of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce, said Shanghai welcomes e-commerce companies like eBay to participate in building the city's ecosphere of cross-border e-commerce, as well as the transformation and upgrading of Shanghai's foreign trade.

Shanghai sellers now market their products via eBay to more than 70 countries. Home decorations, auto parts and home appliances are the bestselling categories.
